Even for Rescue Dawn I'd say nathanmorgandrake That's why I'm confident about Bale's chances. I believe he's almost Cate Blanchett tier in that awards credibility way now (after only Meryl and DDL). If the production is great, he's an automatic threat for nomination. If the performance is great too, he's a real threat to win.

Was at a screening today and there was a Q&A. Bale wasn’t there unfortunately because he is probably tired from India. The movie was solid but the performances were incredible. Believe the hype about Bale. Amy Adams was fantastic too. She’s such a sweetheart. Laughed a lot during the Q&A and even said how she can gush about Bale while he’s not around because she said she doesn’t want to seem like she’s kissing his butt too much when she praises him. Steve Carell was really friendly too and everyone laughed when he said, “yeah Bale is okay” after McKay and Adams praised Bale haha

The nominee committee was there for SAG and I overheard a lot of them saying that Bale will win. However it definitely is a 50/50 battle between Cooper and Bale. I personally would love Viggo to win if Bale doesn’t win. Christian was insanely good. He still played Cheney in a way where it was nuanced but you can feel his inner want for power. Just the way Bale moves is impressive. The walk, the stare... I’m looking forward to watching it just his performance alone. Amy Adams was wonderful too

Oh nathanmorgandrake now I'm even *more* confident of his chances. Bale already showed that kind of prowess with A Hustle. All his movements and postures were as if he was a real 50 yr old man with a heart oroblem. But that wasn't a substantial role and the script failed him terribly. Now *this* is gonna be UNdeniable As for the film, did it remind you of The Big Short quirkiness or was it a thing of it's own?

I honestly still loved his performance in Hostiles more but his portrayal of Cheney is undeniable. There’s a monologue that he does that really captivated the audiences. Holy moly I can’t wait to watch that scene again! This is definitely like the big short through and through. I’m a bit annoyed with the constant narration and pausing because I just want to hear the fucking characters talk. Excuse my language. I think if the narration was cut back a bit I would’ve liked the movie more

So in conclusion, the movie could be seen as falling short or divisive due to it's style but not Bale's perf which is a masterclass. Cooper better start mentally preparing to lose now

Cooper better start mentally preparing to lose now I think the movie will probably get a high 70s percentage but I’m bad at predicting movie reception. The performances are the highlight and what made the movie. If it weren’t for Bale and the other actors I think this movie would’ve been flat. I didn’t love the film but I definitely laughed at some of the absurd scenes . I just don’t like the constant freezing, over explanation and the timeline jumps. More People will be talking about Bale’s performance. It’s just that startling accurate based on the footages I’ve seen of Cheney. I will say though that the voice isn’t 100 percent which is good because you don’t want a full imitation but the mannerisms and especially the lip movement is spot on

This movie looks like it's going to be divisive, and has already gained some haters among the critics. The screening in NY was not positive. If the movie fails, it's a pity that from what I've read about his performance Bale could really win.

Honestly if it weren’t for the performances this movie would’ve sucked. I do think Bale is the standout and will be the one that critics will focus on as well as Adams

I think it’ll be reviewed well like The Big Short. I personally didn’t love the film but it seemed like many critics enjoyed it
