Hi, I'm RhodoraO, the administrator of this board.
I'm a housewife with five kids under my care. My latest two are twins who recently turned two-years old and naturally keep me very busy. Plus I'm of an Indian background which means that family obligations and social engagements add fuel to the fire of my daily routine. For relaxation, however, my interest in films and in Bale in particular have been a constant means for essential escape ever since my marriage.
I migrated to North America in 2010 (first USA, now Canada). I had discovered Bale only a few years before that as, back in my native country, I had been very busy in studies and then work, and distanced myself from entertainment. However, I used to search out TV adaptations of all the English classics I love and watch them usually on YouTube. I had heard from my brother that Charlton Heston of the famed Ben-Hur had played Long John Silver of Treasure Island in a TV movie. I gave that a watch and well, immediately fell in love with the young Jim Hawkins actor which was our very own Christian Bale, 16 year old in that role. It was 2008.
I searched him up and discovered about American Psycho, Equilibrium and Batman, but never got around to watch any of his films. However, as a regular internet user I remember learning about the 2008 and 2009 incidents. By 2010 I had married and soon moved to USA to join my husband. It was here that I rediscovered Bale, first, because, my husband's young son was a Batman aficionado, and later when I came across the posters for the Fighter when I visited the cinema with my family.
A very interesting artifice of all this was that I'm probably the only fan of his who followed his journey to the 2011 oscars and watched him receive the very well-deserved prize as a very interested fan without having actually ever watched any of his films! I remember the great notices for him in the reviews for the Fighter and the great excitement with which the filmgoers were rooting for his win (in the form of Rotten Tomatoes comment section!).
It was all super sweet since, back in my country, I always anticipated the yearly Oscar news story and keenly followed all the major prizes. In fact, I've been doing that as a very young fan of Tom Hanks and his two-fer since the mid-90s!
After the 2011 ceremony, the first Bale gig that I finally watched was not the Fighter or any of the Batmans. It was The Prestige and I loved it. Then I caught up Batman Begins on TV and I knew I was never looking back!
After having caught up with as much of his films as I reasonably could my daily hunger for more Bale led me to venture on his IMDb board. It was the Other Actors Praise him thread and all the effusive industry notices for his oscar winning performance that hooked me to that board. When the IMDb gods recently decided to lay their board system to rest, I couldn't believe that the lovely place would be no more. So I decided to do something about it and here we are!
