The following article on The Inquisitor claims that Christian Bale was nearly cast as the MENTOR for young Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff, before Woody Harrelson's name was officially announced. Wonder how truth is in this rumor. link

That's wonderful. Do we have any info on whether the role was actually offered to him? I remember reading somewhere (it was only speculation as the author admitted) that Bale's name was dropped for potentially overshadowing the lead roles. That does make sense, though.

the people over at collider think bale will eventually be in a star wars film.
considering that after the tdk trilogy bale hasn't been willing to sing a multi-film deal and how he's also talked about struggling with the extensive shoots of the batman films, the han solo movie seemed like a prefect opportunity for him to fulfill his dream of doing star wars as it's just a one-off gig. so i'm really curious as to why he turned it down. was the project just bad or would bale rather play a character who gets to use a lightsaber, maybe the producers told him that if he wasn't interested in solo there would be other opportunities? bale certainly seemed hopeful when he talked about it in the horowitz podcast.
would be quite a surprise to see bale agreeing to sing on for multiple films but maybe his love for star wars is so strong that it's possible. whatever the case it would be awesome to see bale in a star wars film. hopefully as a villain. but i'm still glad he didn't end up doing the solo film since it's a spin-off i'm not that interested in and the production was a mess with the change of directors and ended up going so long that bale wouldn't have been able to do backseat last fall.

The Collider folks are major Christian Bale fans so it’s cool seeing them excited for the prospect of Bale being in a Star Wars film. I would seriously love for him to be a Jedi! He has the perfect look for a Jedi with his beard and perfect hair lol. Plus this gives him an opportunity to speak in his actual English accent.
