so... i just came across this article on twitter that says bale will be making a film in serbia. i don't know anything about this site. they could just be making stuff up for clicks. but i googled the director's name alongside bale's and found a serbian article which claims that the director has said bale is attached to star in the film. again, no idea how reputable this serbian site is. i don't really know what to make of this. it's oddly specific for simple clickbait but at the same time this supposed project sounds so big in scale that you'd need to have hollywood involvement for it and none of the reputable sites that cover movies are reporting it. so is this just made up clickbait or something that could actually be real? the serbian article says filming would take place next year which would work with bale's schedule as he should be finished with "the pale blue eye" by then. sibi's family is from serbia so maybe that's something that would further interest bale about the project. in any case i'd love to see bale in a historical epic but before getting all amped up about i'd like to know if this is even real.
CHRISTIAN BALE TO LEAD HISTORICAL ADVENTURE JANISSARY FROM DARA OF JASENOVAC DIRECTOR, SHARON STONE IN TALKS TO JOIN!
I think we are the first ones to break this news in English, but Gaga Antonijevic, who directed last year's Serbian Oscar representativeDara from Jasenovac, is preparing a massive new historical adventure JANISSARY based on real historical custom of the Ottoman empire to steal babies from occupied lands and then raise them as killer Janissaries who would then be sent to pillage their own villages often unknowingly killing their own mothers and sisters in the process. He has already set Christian Bale as the male lead in the film that he has been preparing for twenty years now.
Set at the end of the 16th century, the film will see Bale playing a Serb taken as a child to Istanbul where he becomes a pasha in their army. The sultan eventually sends him to his fatherland to end the Serbian rebellion and this is where he gets faced both with his past and with a moral dilemma of what to do.
Gaga has also revealed that he is currently negotiating with Sharon Stone to take the role of Bale's mother in the film. Bale, who is married to a Serbian woman in real life, has worked with the director on the script which should start shooting sometime next year in Serbia and Turkey.

HIT! Christian Bale PLAYS A JANIAR and his mother SHARON STONE! New Serbian film WILL BE SHOOTING IN TURKEY AND SERBIA!
One of the biggest Hollywood actors at the moment, Christian Bale, should interpret the main role in Gaga Antonijevic's new film "Janicar", while his mother would be played by Sharon Stone, Belgrade media report.
The director of "Dare from Jasenovac", Gaga Antonijević, will soon start filming the epic spectacle "Janjičar", in which Christian Bale will play the main role, writes Informer.
Negotiations with Sharon Stone are underway, and the famous Hollywood actress should play the character of Bale's mother in a Serbian film.
- Christian has already accepted the role in the future film hit, whose plot is set before the end of the 17th century, while negotiations with Sharon are at the very beginning. She is supposed to play Bale's mother, even though she is only 16 years older than him, it fits Gaga's vision of the character, because at that time girls were giving birth to young -
The news about the great actors in the film "Janjičar" was also confirmed by the director.
- I have been working on the screenplay for the film Janissary for 20 years, together with Christian Bale. He recently finished shooting a film in Australia and now I am waiting for him to let me know the date when he could start working on this project - said Antonijevic and added:
- Bale should play a Serb who is being taken by the Turks to Istanbul, where he will become a pasha in their army. At one point, the sultan returned him to Serbia to his homeland, to quell the rebellion that the Serbs had started together with the Turkish army. This is where his collision with the past begins. Then he will be in a great moral dilemma of what to do - the director reveals.
Filming is set to begin next year at locations in Turkey and Serbia.

edit: found another serbian article where the director talks about bale's involvement. he says actors become interested in the project when they hear bale's part of it which certainly sounds familiar. i'm becoming more and more convince this is real.
You have been working on the film "Janissary" for a long time. Will Christian Bale participate when the filming starts?
Yes, I'm waiting for Bale to give me a date. I've been waiting for him for a few years, maybe a few more, but it's worth it. He is very busy, and this would have to work almost without money or for very little money. But he agreed, just before I came here a month ago, he confirmed it to me again and now I hope for next year.
"Janjičar" is a story about a Serb who is now a Turkish pasha, and was taken as a child by his parents. He was taken to Constantinople and became a janissary. He is now a general in the Turkish army and is being sent to quell a Serb uprising in the place where he is from. Of course, he faces his past and all the dilemmas he has been struggling with all his life. It’s one deeply philosophical story, but there are plenty of action scenes as well. I’ve been working on that film for 20 years and I think it’s the best thing I’ve done so far.
Why the topic of janissary?
Janissary is an eternal Serbian topic. It doesn't matter if it is Turkey or some other country. A person always returns home to try to implement some worldviews that he acquired somewhere there. This is a topic that is still relevant today.
Was the famous Sharon Stone mentioned as part of the project?
That's right, we've talked to several actors, it will all be known for sure when Bale gives the date. Everyone immediately accepts when they hear that he is involved. Christian is my friend and has been involved in this project since the beginning of the idea. I am very much looking forward to that cooperation.
